Only *Some* Things Stay at Camp
Camp Ladybug
My mother’s dream came to fruition this past weekend. For thirty years, she dreamt of a place and a time for women to leave the worries & stress of everyday living behind and relax. A place where women create, laugh, and rediscover themselves.
Before the women arrived, Camp Ladybug was just a place — three sleeping cabins, an art house, and the Ladybug Cafe.
In the planning stages of Camp Ladybug, the campers were just names and ages on a piece of paper. What would they look like? Would they like the meals and activities that we had planned?
There was nervous excitement when the clock struck three on Thursday afternoon. Suddenly, names had faces and with that… a kind of magic. A magic that can not be explained in writing, only experienced through intimate conversation, the sharing of a meal, through paint, song, or in the healing power of a guitar.
Camp Ladybug… where sisters go to support one another.
A place where “I used to…” picks up a guitar and plays.
Camp Ladybug… a place to escape the stress of chemotherapy.
Where the little girl inside sets aside fear to pick up a paintbrush.
Camp Ladybug… where leukemia & multiple sclerosis can’t win.
A place where bras are optional and the sound of laughter is a gentle cadence.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::
The decorations are put away, the cabins empty, and it’s quiet again. What peace may I find in this silence? The peace of knowing that it was real and it was good.
We left some things behind there… and replaced them with sunshine, strength, tranquility, vibrance, and a promise to ourselves. Each promise is unique. Each truth is unique. And while we all came to camp for different reasons, I believe that we ALL experienced a renewal of spirit.
You are ALL forever in my heart.

The Power of Words
Camp 2010!
They came from both near and far, they came as sisters, mothers & daughters and as individuals on a journey; in search of self, in search of fun, laughter and relaxation and a massage. Seeking refuge from our busy world, seeking refreshment and rediscovery of one's self.
We realized those dreams and so much more in those few days. In those little cabins in the woods where life was simple, hands were many, worries were burned and friendships were born, spirits were restored, lives were blessed.
I've returned home fulfilled and enriched from the experience of seeing a dream come to life, thanks to the women who shared in my vision. I have been truly blessed this weekend with joy in my heart, peace within my spirit as I witnessed the smiles, felt the joy, heard the laughter at Camp Ladybug For Women. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all those women who came and believed. I found a quote which summed up my emotions as I returned from camp; I hope you enjoy it as well. ~ Terry
" Occasionally in life there are those moments of unutterable fulfillment which cannot be completely explained by those symbols called words. Their meanings can only be articulated by the inaudible language of the heart." ~ Martin Luther King Jr

As for me, I'll be the toddler free woman sunning herself by the pool with a pile of Country Living magazines, an ice cold diet coke, & no agenda. Come say hello!

The Reiki Healing Priciples
What is Reiki?
The Reiki Practitioner ~
Is someone who acts like a conduit or funnel through which Universal energy ( Reiki) flows. Wehn the practitioner places his or her hands on your body, he or she is passive and does not control how much energy your body receives, where it goes or how it is used. Your body, in its infinite wisdom, will take whatever amount of energy it needs - to wherever you need it most - for your Highest Good.
A Reiki Treatment ~
* is deeply relaxing and comforting
* catalyzes the body's natural ability to heal
* stimulates the immune system
* has continuing effects for hours and even days after the treatment
* REDUCES STRESS, PAIN AND INFLAMMATION
* can be used on animals and plants in addition to people
* in non manipulative, non - invasive and non - intrusive
* supports all other forms of healing including medical treatment, by bringing your body to a place of balance where healing can occur
*supports your body in releasing physical symptoms
can reduce/relieve pain, especially chronic pain, by bringing your body to balance
*reduces frequency and /or severity of opportunistic diseases that ofter occur in immune compromised conditions
During a Reiki Treatment ~
*you lie on a table fully clothed and covered with a sheet or blanket
*the practitioner's hands are placed in a specific sequence of positions on your head, chest and back. They rest gently in each position for approximately 5 minutes.
*The entire treatment takes about 1 1/2 hours.
*diagnosis is unnecessary, so there is no need for you to share the details of your medical condition
*Conversation is unnecessary and whatever you choose to say will be held in total confidence
*please let the practitioner know if you feel uncomfortable for any reason ( too hot, too cold etc.) - at any time. This treatment is for you. Your comfort and relaxation are first and foremost
*RELAX AND ENJOY - there is nothing that you need to do, think about or focus on.
